Talley Wins Pole Vault At UC San Diego Triton Invitational

Senior Bobby Talley won the pole vault competition on Saturday at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational to lead the Bruin men in La Jolla. Talley, the 2008 Pac-10 champion, won with a season-best and improved regional mark of 17-00.75.

Also in the vault, senior Dustin DeLeo finished second with an equal clearance of 17-00.75, while sophomore Greg Woepse tied for third with a mark of 16-6.75.

In the javelin, junior Andreas Drbal threw a lifetime-best 198-10 to finish third overall. In the shot put, freshman Mark Weber finished ninth with a lifetime-best toss of 55-1, just 1/2 inch shy of the regional standard.

Sophomore Cory Primm finished second in the 1500m (3:52.33), while classmate Kent Morikawa was third (3:55.93).

In the 5000m, juniors Marco Anzures (14:37.15) and Jake Matthews (14:38.56) finished second and third, respectively, in the 5000m.

Freshman Coleman Edmond finished fifth in the 100m (10.93) and sixth in the 200m (21.91), as both times were season-bests.
