Box Score

LOS ANGELES - Jorge Reyes scattered six hits and three runs over six innings, but the Oregon State right-hander took the loss in UCLA's 5-2 win over the 17th-ranked Beavers in the three-game series finale on Sunday at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Of the three runs allowed by Reyes, just one was unearned. Oregon State committed five errors on the afternoon - two while Reyes was on the hill - giving the Beavers' pitching staff four unearned runs on the day.

Reyes allowed a UCLA run in the third when Steve Rodriguez hit his first home run of the season. He was victimized for two unearned runs in the fifth to take the loss and fall to 5-2 on the year.

UCLA (19-21 overall, 11-7 Pacific-10 Conference) added to its 3-2 lead in the seventh when the Beavers (24-11, 9-6) committed three errors. Rodriguez singled to start the inning, moved to third on a pickoff overthrow and then scored when Stefen Romero could not hold on to a throw from Carter Bell. Blair Dunlap, who was the runner who reached on the error, scored all the way from first when the next batter, Cody Decker, singled and the Beavers committed another overthrow.

Oregon State got the tying run to the plate in the ninth after a Koa Kahalehoe single and walk by Joey Wong. Kahalahoe moved to third on the second wild pitch of the inning with Adalberto Santos at bat. But Gavin Brooks, the fourth pitcher of the game, was able to get Santos to fly out to center for his seventh save of the season.

The five errors committed by the Beavers are the most in a single game this season.

The Beavers had the lead early on. Wong started the game with a single to center and later scored when Stefen Romero singled up the middle.

Oregon State then took another lead, this time in the fifth, after Rodriguez homered to pull UCLA even in the third. Wong started the rally off again with one-out double. Two batters later, Ryan Ortiz, who finished with two hits, stroked a double past the bag at third base, bringing in Wong.

UCLA picked up the lead for good in bottom half of the fifth Eddie Murray singled through the right side and an error allowed Rodriguez to score from second. Justin Uribe later drove in Murray from third on a sacrifice fly.

Ortiz and Wong paced the Beavers with two hits apiece. For Ortiz, it was his team-leading 16th multiple-hit game of the season, while Wong now has 12, tying his total from 2008.

Charles Brewster picked up the win for UCLA after going five innings. He scattered six hits and two runs while striking out four to improve to 2-4 on the year.
