Grigsby is Low Cougar Scorer After Third Round at Pac-10's

SEATTLE, Wash. - Junior Nick Grigsby led the Washington State men's golf team in the third round at the Pacific-10 Conference Championships, Tuesday. The Cougars posted a combined team third-round score of 370, eight shots better than their second-round score.

'We are improving and getting a better feel for the course. Unfortunately so is everyone else,' said Williams. 'We are struggling on our first nine (holes 10-18). We shoot well under par on our last nine in both the second and third rounds but the par-three 11th and 16th holes are beating us up!' said WSU Head Coach Walt Williams.

Grigsby was the only Cougar to shoot below par in the third round. He posted a 71 (-1) at the par-72, 6,806-yard Seattle Golf Club and he is currently only three strokes back of the top 25.

Freshman Trent Sanders is the leader on the scoreboard for the Cougars. With a three-round score of 223 (+7), he is only two strokes back of the top 25 and currently sits in a tie for 34th place.

Junior Kevin Tucker was even in the third round while junior Austin Hurt carded a 74 (+2).

'The three juniors played will today; Nick Grigsby, Kevin and Austin, especially on the final nine!' said WSU Head Coach Walt Williams.

Wrapping up the Cougar Scorers are sophomore Nick Ellis, who posted a 235 (+19), and freshman Paul Mitzel, who carded a 251 (+35), through the first three rounds.

'This experience of getting to play with such good players is going to help us in the future, since we have no seniors and all these guys will be back next year,' said Williams.

The Cougars were paired against No. 18 UCLA in the third round and posted a combined team score of 1138 (+58) to enter the final day in 10th place (rankings according to
