Bruin Gymnastics Alumna Enjoying Successful Political Career
April 29, 2009
UCLA Gymnastics alumna Michelle Selesky (2004-07) is on the political fast-track in Washington, D.C. Selesky, who earned a Masters Degree in Political Management from George Washington University in Fall 2008, is currently serving as the Communications Coordinator at Gingrich Communications, where she orchestrates radio and media opportunities for former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and his co-authors, in addition to promoting speeches, interviews, book signings and DVD and audio marketing.
Selesky was recently a guest on Greta Van Susteren's online show Greta Live Wire at FoxNews.com and was in attendance with Gingrich last Friday as he testified at the House Subcommittee on Energy and Commerce.
Her latest project is coordinating media for Bill Forstchen, Gingrich's historical novel co-author. Selesky's promotional work helped Forstchen's book, One Second After, hit No. 11 on the New York Times bestseller list.
Selesky may soon find herself on the bestseller list. She is in the early phases of writing a book about her family's experience in Vietnam and America, before, during and after the war.
While at UCLA, Selesky served as a team co-captain in 2006 and 2007, leading the Bruins to the 2007 Pac-10 team title and a fourth-place showing at the NCAA Championships. She was also a member of the Bruins' 2004 NCAA Championship squad. Selesky earned Scholastic All-America honors all four years, and during her senior season, she tied for third on vault at the Pac-10 Championships with a career-high 9.925 to earn All-Pac-10 honors on that event. She graduated with honors from UCLA in 2007 with a degree in Political Science.
