TEMPE, Ariz. - Matt Newman emerged the hero on Tuesday, getting the game-winning hit and earning the victory on the mound as the No. 4 Arizona State University baseball team rallied to defeat San Diego 8-7 in 11 innings in front of a crowd of 2,923 at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark. Cal Baseball Defeats UC Davis, 6-5
BERKELEY, Calif. - The California baseball team rebounded from a 3-0 deficit to defeat UC Davis, 6-5, Tuesday at Evans Diamond. The Golden Bears had trailed 3-1 before scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, highlighted by a lead-off home run by junior second baseman Jeff Kobernus and doubles by Blake Smith, Danny Oh and Dwight Tanaka. STANFORD, Calif. - Sophomore second baseman Colin Walsh drove in a career-high four runs - including the go-ahead, two-run single in the eighth - as Stanford (23-19) rallied from a 7-1, third-inning deficit to defeat visiting San Jose State (32-16) by a final score of 9-8 tonight at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond.
