BOULDER - University of Colorado tennis student-athletes Camila Belassi and Melisa Esposito were named to the 2009 All-Big 12 Conference team as one of the top six doubles tandems, the conference office announced Wednesday in a vote by the league's head coaches.
The conference honor is the second straight post-season accolade for Belassi. Last season, she was named one of the top doubles teams with Monica Milewski.
It was Esposito's first Big 12 post-season honor.
The CU tandem won seven regular season conference matches tying for the most wins at the No. 1 doubles position among conference duos. Overall, Belassi/Esposito recorded nine victories as CU's top doubles team.
The pair also clinched two doubles points during the spring upsetting the then-No. 43 nationally ranked team from Texas Tech (Samantha van der Drift and Kelsy Garland); and at the Big 12 Tennis Championships against Kansas State (Antea Huljev and Nina Sertic).
