Krais In 4th After Day 1 Of Pac-10 Heptathlon Championships

Ryann Krais stands in fourth-place after day one of the Pac-10 Heptathlon Championships as the freshman picked up an NCAA regional qualifier in the high hurdles and posted season-best marks in all events contested.
Krais started off the day with an impressive run in the high hurdles as she ran a season-best and regional qualifier of 13.81 for the second-fastest time of the day and 1005 points.
In the high jump, Krais cleared a season-best 5-5.25 to tie for fifth, picking up 806 points. She then threw a season-best 39-7.75 in the shot put for 666 points and the fourth-best mark of the day.
She wrapped up the competition with the fourth-fastest 200m time, running a season-best 24.75 for 910 points.
She ended the day with a day one season-best score of 3387 and is on track to record an NCAA automatic qualifier, which is 5,500 points. She already has a provisional qualifier of 5220 points.
Junior Hillary Werth was also competing in the heptathlon but pulled out of the competition after no-heighting in the high jump.
Krais will wrap up the heptathlon competition on Sunday with the long jump, javelin and 800m.
