Cal Baseball Defeats UCLA, 8-3, to Win Pac-10 Road Series

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Powered by junior second baseman Jeff Kobernus' three hits and outstanding relief pitching by redshirt freshman Dixon Anderson, Cal baseball defeated UCLA, 8-3, Sunday afternoon at Jackie Robinson Stadium. The Golden Bears ended up winning their first Pac-10 road series of the season, improving to 22-27 overall and 8-16 in the conference. The Bruins, who entered the series in second place in the league, fell to 24-24 overall and 14-10 in conference. Cal had won Friday night's game, 3-2, before losing, 9-4, Saturday. On Sunday, Kobernus hit a home run, triple and double to finish 3-for-5 with two RBI. Anderson, after earning his third save of the season Friday night, threw a career-high 6.2 innings with seven hits, one run, two walks and a career-high seven strikeouts to pick up his first collegiate victory.
