Trojans USC Occidental Invite For Final Tune-up Before Pac-10s
May 10, 2009
Junior Ben Brown's career-best triple jump of 48-8 3/4 (14.85m) highlighted the day for the Trojan at the Occidental Invitational on May 9 in Eagle Rock, Calif.
Brown entered the meet with a season best of 45-1 3/4 and a career best of 46-8, so he improved two full-feet over his previous best mark and missed posting a regional qualifying mark by just 0.15 meters.
Freshman Anniya Louis also just missed posting a regional qualifying mark as she ran a season-best 2:10.15 in the 800m race, just .35 seconds off the automatic mark.
Among the other highlights for USC on the day were senior Charles Fasi clearing a PR of 16-2 3/4 (4.95m) in the pole vault to tie with junior Brandon Estrada for fourth, senior Donovan Lim matching a season-best height of 6-6 3/4 (2.05m) in the high jump, junior Nate Anderson running 1:53.00 in the 800m race and junior Kira Davis-Quarrie posting a season-best time of 25.99 in the 200m dash.
The women's 4x100m relay team of junior Shalina Clarke, junior Judith Onyepunuka, freshman Erica Alexander and freshman Aareon Payne had a time of 45.37, tops on the day but a second slower than the Trojan 4x100m relay team ran last weekend. Junior Akene Anene, in just her second official meet this season, had a triple jump of 38-6.
Former Trojan great Lionel Larry ran a blistering time of 10.23 in the 100m dash for the best time on the day.
