May 13, 2009

BERKELEY - Sophomore Allison Stokke was named the Pac-10 Women's Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference on May 11. Stokke earned the honor after her performance last weekend in the pole vault at the Sacramento Open. This is the fourth Pac-10 Track Athlete of the Week award for Cal in 2009.

Stokke recorded a personal best on Saturday at the Sacramento Open when she won the pole vault. Stokke surpassed her previous personal best by four inches with her first-place mark of 13-9.75 (4.21m). Her mark ranks second all-time in Cal history, behind senior Katie Morgan who took second in the meet. Stokke's mark is tied for ninth best in the nation.

Junior Ryan Young won the conference's weekly honor on April 13, and junior Kimyon Broom and sophomore Michael Coe won the weekly award on April 27.

Cal heads to the Eugene, Ore., this weekend for the Pac-10 Outdoor Championships from May 16-17.
