Women's Crew Heads to Pac-10 Championships

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The No. 13 Oregon State women's rowing team is set to compete at the Pac-10 Rowing Championships at Lake Natoma, Calif., Sunday, May 17.
'It is always an honor to represent Oregon State at the Pac-10 Championships,' head coach Emily Ford said. 'I feel really good about this year's squad. They have raised the bar all year and trained better than ever. It will be fun to see how the racing plays out.'
All teams are set to compete in the morning session with the top three boats from each heat earning a spot in the Grand Final race in the afternoon. All of the remaining boats will compete in a Petite Final.
The Varsity 4+ kicks off the morning session at 8:00 a.m. against Washington, Stanford and Gonzaga, followed by the Second Varsity 8+ at 8:30. The 2V8+ crew races against California, Washington, UCLA and St. Mary's.
The Varsity 8+ boat hits the water at 8:40 against No. 1 Stanford, No. 19 UCLA, Gonzaga and Sacramento State. Oregon State's Novice 8+ wraps up the morning's competition at 9:10 against Washington State, Stanford, Sacramento State, UC Davis and Oregon.
The afternoon Petite Finals are scheduled to start at 1:10 p.m. beginning with the Novice 8+. It will be followed by the Varsity 4+, Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 8+ at 1:20, 1:30 and 1:40 respectively.
The Grand Finals begin at 2 p.m. with the Novice 8+ crews. The Varsity 4+ follows at 2:20 and the Second Varsity 8+ at 2:40. The Varsity 8+ Grand Final concludes the 2009 Championships at 3:20.
