Senior Day Sunday Highlights Big Weekend For Baseball
May 14, 2009
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Prior to Sunday's series finale with Washington State, the Oregon State baseball team will honor its five seniors. That ceremony will cap a big weekend for the Beavers.
First off, the weekend series comes against the Cougars, the Pacific-10 Conference's second-place team. Washington State (26-21 overall, 14-7 Pac-10) is two games behind league leader Arizona State. The Beavers (30-14, 12-9), meanwhile, are tied for fourth and are four games out of first place. Oregon State is coming off an 8-1 victory over Gonzaga Tuesday night while the Cougars split a mid-week series with Portland in Pullman.
Oregon State's seniors for the 2009 season are John Wallace (Reno, Nev.), Koa Kahalehoe (Las Vegas), Mark Grbavac (Portland), Kyle Foster (Castle Rock, Wash.) and Logan Boyd (Medford, Ore.). They will be joined by student-manager Brian Pecor and assistant athletic trainer C.J. Neumann.
After the game, make sure to stay at Goss Stadium as the team's five seniors will be signing autographs in the main lobby.
Sunday's senior ceremony will start shortly before the game and is not the only celebration going on at Goss Stadium. The men's basketball team will be signing autographs from 11:45-12:30 p.m. in the Goss lobby and the Beavers will be honored for their 2009 CBI Championship during the game. For those who can't make the game, radio play-by-play man Mike Parker is expected to have special guests on the air during the game.
Also prior to the game, the Samaritan Advantage All-Star Senior will be honored in a special ceremony.
