Tucker Finishes Second Round at NCAA Regional

May 15, 2009

DALY CITY, Calif. - Washington State junior Kevin Tucker completed his second round of play at the NCAA Division I Men's Golf West Regional Championships Friday, held at the par-72, 6,863-yard Lake Merced Golf Club.

The Kennewick, Wash., native currently finds himself in a tie for 63rd after carding a second-round score of 76 (+4). Heading into the final round, Tucker, only the second men's golfer in school history to earn an individual invitation to the NCAA West Regional, currently has a 36-hole score of 149 (+5). He is six strokes back of the top 20.

'Today was very similar to yesterday for Kevin,' WSU Head Coach Walt Williams said. 'He struggled at the beginning and then made a nice run of three birdies in four holes on the back nine. He wants to get off to a better start tomorrow and see what happens if he can post a low score.'

Tucker is competing with 13 teams and nine other individuals for the right to advance to the NCAA Championships at the Inverness Golf Club in Toledo, Ohio, May 26-30. The top five teams and the top individual not on an advancing team will move on to the NCAA Championships.

Live, hole-by-hole scoring of Saturday's final round will be available at golfstat.com, and final results will be posted at wsucougars.com. The final round is scheduled to get underway beginning with tee times at 8:30 a.m.
