Viehweg & Borman Highlight Women's Track & Field At Pac-10 Championships

Brittany Borman and Ciara Viehweg led the Bruin women on Saturday in Eugene, OR at the Pac-10 Track & Field Championships as both scored points in event finals.Borman picked up UCLA's first points on Saturday as she finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 47-00.25. Viehweg picked up five more points for the Bruins as she ran just off of her lifetime-best in the steeplechase, finishing fourth overall (10:22.99).Today's performance was Viehweg's highest finish at the Pac-10 meet during her career.

Also in the steeple, freshman Sadee Martinez finished 16th with a time of 11:07.47.

In the 10,000m final, freshman Katja Goldring finished just one spot shy of a scoring position as she placed ninth with a time of 36:16.87. Sophomore Kelcie Wiemann placed 14th, running 37:29.17.

The 4x100m relay team of senior Nicole Leach, freshmen RoNecia Nash and Yasmin Woodruff, and senior Krystin Lacy equaled their season-best of 45.00 to advance to Sunday's final. The foursome were second in heat one and third overall on the day.

Leach won heat one (53.90) and Lacy was second (54.12) in heat two as both women advanced to Sunday's final. Leach has the No. 2 mark on the day and Lacy's time was fourth-best overall. Sophomore Ashlea McLaughlin was fourth in heat two (55.73) and 11th overall and does not advance to the final.

In the 100m hurdles, sophomore Lindsay Rowe and freshman Ryann Krais finished second and third respectively, as Rowe was second (13.51) and Krais was third (13.61, season-best) in heat two (wind +2.2). Both ladies advance to Sunday's final with Rowe posting the fourth-fastest time of the day, while Krais was fifth overall.

Krais then finished second in heat two of the 400m hurdles and fifth overall as she equaled her season-best time of 59.84 and advances to Sunday's final.

Junior Krishna Curry won her section of the 800m and posted the fastest time of the day, 2:07.35, to advance to Sunday's final. Junior Rosa Magana finished 12th, running 2:12.78.

Sophomore Shannon Murakami finished sixth in heat one of the 1500m and 12th overall (4:29.19), advancing to Sunday's final as the final qualifier.

In the 100m, Woodruff finished fourth in heat one and 10th overall (11.67), freshman Nijah Nelms was eighth in heat one and 15th overall (11.93) and Nash was eighth in heat two and 16th overall (11.96). Woodruff finished fourth in heat two of the 200m with the seventh-fastest time of the day (23.78, season-best) and advances to Sunday's final. Nash was sixth in heat two and 12th overall. (24.47, season-best).

Senior Rhonda Watkins did not advance to the finals in the long jump after finishing 10th after the first three jumps. Watkins fouled her first two jumps and had to adjust her run on her final attempt. She ended the day with a jump of 19-2. Freshman Ke'Nyia Richardson finished 17th overall with a mark of 17-2.75. Watkins also finished fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 5-8.75.

In the javelin, junior Hillary Werth finished 13th with a throw of 120-1.
