USA Basketball Names Seven Pac-10 Women's Basketball Players National Team Finalists

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- Seven Pac-10 women's basketball players were named finalists for the USA Basketball National teams, the organization announced Sunday.
Making the cut for the 2009 Women's World University Games, coached by Arizona State head coach Charli Turner Thorne, was Stanford's Jayne Appel, Kayla Pedersen, and Jeanette Pohlen and California's Alexis Gray-Lawson.
The 14 finalists will compete for 12 positions during training camp from June 18-25 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. The final roster will be announced prior to the team's departure. The 2009 World University Games will take place July 1-11 in Belgrade, Serbia.
Also announcing its finalists for the 2009 USA U19 National Team, USA Basketball selected Cardinals Sarah Booth and Nnemkadi Ogwumike and future Golden Bear Layshia Clarendon to compete for 12 roster spots.
The finalists for the U19 team will return July 9 to compete for the eventual 12 member roster. The 2009 FIBA U19 World Championship will be held July 23-Aug. 2 in Bangkok, Thailand.
