Alfred Named to Rimington Watch List

PULLMAN - Washington State's Kenny Alfred was named to the Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List, awarded annually to the nation's top center, the organization announced today.

A rising redshirt senior, Alfred is one of 12 individuals making a repeat appearance on the watch list. He is also one of only three Pacific-10 Conference centers mentioned on the list of 44 student-athletes.

Of the centers earning All-Pac-10 recognition in 2008, Alfred is one of only three returning in 2009. Alfred enters 2009 entrenched as the team's starter, having started 32 of WSU's last 33 games at the position dating back to his freshman season, when he was named Freshman All-America Second Team by

The leader of the Cougars' offensive line, Alfred was named WSU's Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2008. He has also garnered recognition on the Pac-10 All-Academic Team.

The Rimington Trophy winner will be honored at a presentation banquet held at the Rococo Theater in Lincoln, Neb., Jan. 16, 2010.
