National Team Update: Stanford's Press, O'Hara Score In Ireland, Levin and Noyola Headed To Camp
May 20, 2009
STANFORD, Calif. - For some of the Stanford women's soccer team members, the off season can be just as busy as the fall college season due to duty with their respective national teams. Currently four players are active with their U.S. sides, and one incoming freshman, Courtney Verloo, is also in the mix.
Rising senior Kelley O'Hara and junior Christen Press just wrapped up their tour of Ireland with the U.S. U-23s, in which both scored in a 6-0 win over an Irish Women's Select Side (which they played after a scheduled match with the full Irish squad was cancelled) and played in a 0-0 tie with the Northern Ireland Women's National Team. Press and O'Hara return in time for Stanford's spring meeting with non-conference rival Santa Clara on Thursday, May 21 at 7 p.m. on The Farm. The U-23s will next come together in mid-June for a training camp in Cleveland, Ohio.
Following the match with the Broncos, rising sophomores Camille Levin and Teresa Noyola, will join incoming freshman Verloo and 21 others for a training camp at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. with the U.S. U-20s as the Americans prepare for the 2010 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
