Hicks and Humm Earn All-Conference Honors

May 27, 2009

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State rowers Ame Hicks and Katie Humm have been named to the 2009 All-Pac-10 team as announced Wednesday by Commissioner Tom Hansen.

Hicks, a senior from 100 Mile House, B.C., has rowed in the stroke seat of the Beavers No. 11 Varsity 8+ crew for the entire 2008-09 season and has been a member of Oregon State's top crew since she arrived on campus for the 2005-06 season. On Monday, Hicks was named to the all-region first team by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA)

Humm, a junior from Lake Oswego, Ore., has rowed primarily in the three seat of the V8+ and has spent two years in the varsity boat. Humm won second team all-region honors from the CRCA this past Monday.

Together with the rest of the varsity crew, Hicks and Humm led the Beavers to a third place finish at the Pac-10 Championships, the highest finish by an Oregon State V8+ since 2000. The finish led to the Beavers being invited to participate in the NCAA Championships for the first time in nine years.

Hicks and Humm will be back in action on May 29th, as they take the water in Camden, N.J. at 9 a.m. eastern time in their preliminary heat of the NCAA Championships. Check back with osubeavers.com for more information.
