UCLA Rowing's Vanessa Teff Named to All-Pac-10 Team
May 27, 2009
LOS ANGELES - Senior Vanessa Teff of the UCLA women's rowing team has earned All-Pac-10 Team honors for a program-best fourth consecutive season, as announced Wednesday by the Pac-10 Conference office.
Teff becomes the only rower in school history to have been named an all-conference selection in each of her four seasons in Westwood. A three-time Pocock All-America honoree, Teff was a key member of the Bruins' varsity eight crew the past four seasons.
Teff, who hails from Middleton, Wis., secured All-Pac-10 team honors as a junior (2008), sophomore (2007) and freshman (2006). She helped lead the Bruins to an at-large berth in the NCAA Championships each of her first two seasons at UCLA.
In 2009, Teff helped guide the Bruins' varsity to dual-meet victories against Loyola Marymount and San Diego State. UCLA raced to a first-place finish in the varsity eight Petite Final at the San Diego Crew Classic and won its group on the second day of action at the Lake Natoma Challenge.
Additionally, five UCLA rowers have been named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association. Senior Megan Lightfoot, juniors Kristin Fitzmorris, Lynn Hancock and Christina Sprouse and sophomore Alaizah Koorji have earned national scholar-athlete honors from the CRCA.
