Cummings and Poyer Scheduled to Play This Weekend

            Future Oregon State University football student-athletes Jordan Poyer and Kevin Cummings will play in this weekend’s inaugural International Federation of American Football Junior World Championships in Canton, Ohio.  Poyer and Cummings are representing the USA in the tournament’s opening round game June 27 vs. France at 5 p.m. PDT.


            The eight-team tournament also features Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Germany, Mexico and Sweden.  The winner of the USA-France game will play the victorious team from the Mexico vs. Sweden contest July 1 at 4 p.m. PDT.  The bronze medal game will be held July 4 at 4 p.m. PDT and the gold medal game will be July 5 at 10 a.m. PDT.  The gold and bronze medal games will be televised live by Fox College Sports Atlantic and will be available on DirecTV channel 617 and streamed live on


            Cummings, a and three-star athlete from Culver City, Calif., played receiver and defensive back during his two-year varsity career at Crespi High School.  He earned first-team All-Serra league at receiver as a senior. Cummings also was a sprinter on the track team.


Poyer, Oregon’s offensive and defensive 4A player of the year last season, played quarterback and safety during his three-year varsity career at Astoria where he accounted for 123 touchdowns in three seasons. He also was a multi-year all-state selection in baseball. 

Cummings and Poyer will also be participating in OSU’s nationally recognized BEST Bridge Program for incoming student-athletes next month.
