Norman, Okla. -- Washington Husky golfer Nick Taylor was one of five competitors under par and led the field by two strokes after the completion of stroke play at the 84th U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in Norman, Okla.

He shot a 1-under 70 in Tuesday's second round to record a two day score of 6-under 136. Taylor was one of only eight competitors from the field of 155 to shoot under par during Tuesday's second round and was the only competitor to score in the red both days.

Taylor will be the No. 1 seed in match play, set to begin tomorrow at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. The top 64 scorers advanced to compete in match play, which runs through Saturday.

Taylor played a relatively steady round on Tuesday with 15 pars, two birdies and one bogey. He bogeyed the Par-4, No. 4 and had to wait until his second nine to regain ground. He hit back-to-back birdies on the Par-4, No. 11 and Par-3, No. 12.
