Archer, Freeman Qualify for US Women's Amateur

Oregon State women’s golfers Lauren Archer and Cara Freeman each qualified for the United States Amateur Public Links Championship in separate qualifiers Wednesday.

Archer, a senior-to-be from Boise, Idaho, shot a 3-over 75 to tie for third, out of 38, at the par 72 Inglemoor Golf Club in Kenmore, Wash.

Archer tallied four birdies on the day including the par-5 seventh, the par-4 13th and 17th and the par-3 eighth. She ended with nine par scores (#2, 4, 6, 9-12, 14, 18) and had five bogeys (#1, 5, 12, 15, 16) and one double bogey (#3).

Meanwhile, Freeman, a junior-to-be from San Juan Capistrano, Calif., shot a 1-under 71 to finish in a tie for fifth, out of 38, at the par 72 Alta Mesa Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz.
