    2009 TEAM PREVIEW
The Wildcats will be retooling in 2009 after losing six starters, but will be returning five key players, including sophomore forward Renae Cuellar, who finished tied as the team's leader in goals scored with five. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Devon Wharf will look to make her mark coming off a knee injury in 2008. Wharf has international experience with the Canadian National Team at the U-14, U-16 and U-18 levels that should help provide leadership to a young defensive unit. Senior Analisa Marquez will also be a key veteran on the defensive line for the Wildcats, who can also turn around and be an offensive threat. Ten newcomers provide strength to the team, most notably freshman defender Karli Hedlund out of Edmonton, Canada, who arrives in Tucson fresh off a call-up to the Canadian Senior National Team where she played in the match against the United States.

    KEY MATCHUPS
    • Oct. 23 - Arizona State at Arizona, 7 p.m. PT
The matchup promises to be a great game, as the Wildcats defeated the Sun Devils for the first time in the program's history at ASU's home field in 2008. The Wildcats were previously 0-14 against Arizona State. The win in 2008 also gave the Wildcats their 100th program victory. In 2009 Arizona will look for the repeat win in Tuscon.

    WILDCAT TO WATCH
    21 • Analisa Marquez
    SR • Foward/Defender • Tucson, Ariz.

Marquez appeared in 19 games as a junior for the Wildcats in 2008, starting in all of those matches. A strong defender, Marquez can also go the other way and be a threat on the offensive side having scored five goals in three seasons. She was fourth on the team in 2008 and will be the highest returner with a .167 shot-on-goal percentage. Marquez was a 2008 Honorable Mention Academic All-Pac-10 selection. Marquez was named to the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Team of the Week IV on June 16, 2009 and promises to be a steady anchor for the Arizona defense in 2009.
