The Trojans look retool in 2009 after losing an incredibly strong senior class, including 2008 U.S. Olympic gold medalist Amy Rodriguez. However, with a strong recruiting class, which includes seven freshmen with great credentials, paired with returnees like junior foward Ashli Sandoval and junior midfielder/forward Megan Ohai, the Trojans should be able to pick up their winning ways where they left off. Sandoval led the team in points in 2008, netting six goals with nine assists. The Trojans second-leading scorer was junior midfielder Alyssa Davila, who put away seven goals and will be back in action in 2009. Ohai will bring her strong eye for the goal as well as U-23 U.S. National Team experience. Redshirt-senior forward Marihelen Tomer will provide great leadership for the Trojans and is always looking towards the net after scoring a team-high three game-winning goals last season. The strong anchor in goal for USC is senior goalkeeper Kristin Olsen. Olsen is steady in goal and her athleticism and proven big-game experience provides a big upside for the USC. Providing leadership for the defensive line in front of Olsen will be redshirt-senior Meagan Holmes. Holmes is a steady defender and has a strong presence in the air. She has battled injuries during her career but will look to stay healthy in 2009.

    • Aug. 22- at Texas A&M, 7:30 p.m. PT
    • Oct. 30- at UCLA 7 p.m. PT (FSN/Fox Soccer Channel)
On Aug. 22, the Trojans return to College Station, Texas, the site of their 2007 National Championship victory, to open the 2009 campaign. This time, the squad will look a bit different and will be facing a difficult Texas A&M team to open the season. On Oct. 30, USC takes to the field against crosstown-rival UCLA in Westwood. The Trojans look to avenge a 1-0 loss to the Bruins in the third round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament. The match will be televised on FSN and Fox Soccer Channel.
