UCLA Women's Volleyball Tabbed Fourth in Pac-10 Preseason Coaches Poll

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The UCLA women's volleyball team was selected fourth in the Pac-10 Preseason Coaches poll, which was released by the conference on Friday. The Bruins earned 62 points, finishing two points ahead of USC for fifth.

Washington was voted the preseason favorite with California picked second and Stanford tabbed third. The Huskies picked up nine of the 10 first-place votes, with the Golden Bears snatching the other nod. After the Bruins and Trojans, rounding out the poll were Oregon, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State and Washington State. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.

The Bruins, who were ranked 10th in the Preseason Volleyball Magazine rankings, open their 2009 season at the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Honolulu. UCLA faces Santa Clara on Aug. 28, Western Michigan on Aug. 29 and Hawai'i on Aug. 30. All start times are at 8 p.m. PT.
