The Beavers have a balanced mix of veterans and underclassmen (eight upperclassmen and seven underclassmen). Leading the way for head coach Taras Liskevych will be senior outside hitter Rachel Rourke and senior setter Camilla Ah-Hoy. Rourke ranked 12th nationally in kills per set (4.44) last season, while Ah-Hoy ranks sixth on OSU’s all-time career assists list with 2,028. Also returning this season are senior outside hitter/middle blocker Bree Knitter (1.67 kps, 2.12 pps, 18 aces) and junior outside hitter Jill Sawatzky (3.30 kps, 3.51 pps). Last season, the Beavers posted a 3-8 record on the road. In 2009, half of the matches will be on the road, including three at neutral sites. OSU will have to find a way to win matches away from Gill Coliseum. Off the court, OSU excelled academically leading the Conference with three players on either the first or second team Academic All-Pac-10 honors. Junior setter Kaitlan Locke and Sawatzky were first team honorees, while Knitter made the second team.

The Beavers are currently on a 10-match Conference losing streak. The last Conference team OSU defeated was Arizona (3-0) down in Tucson, Ariz. OSU will be looking for back-to-back wins in Tucson for the first time in program history on Oct. 9. The Beavers then make a trip to Eugene, Ore. to battle the Ducks. Fox Sports Net will televise this rivalry game where OSU will look to put a stop to its six-match losing streak to the Ducks. The last time OSU defeated UO in Eugene was in 2005.
