VIDEO PREVIEW: Stanford's Running Game

Aug. 19, 2009

STANFORD, Calif.-- For a program that has gained its reputation over the years largely through the air, Stanford's offense last season was built around a power running game that finished second in the Pac-10 in rushing, averaging 196.6 yards a game. The final total of 2,395 yards was the second highest mark in school history, trailing only the 1949 squad that ran up 2,481 yards.

With Doak Walker and Maxwell Award candidate Toby Gerhart leading the charge, Stanford's rushing attack looks as formidable as any team in the Pac-10 Conference.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh and running backs coach Willie Taggart preview Stanford's running game heading into the 2009 season.
