Aug. 26, 2009

Tulsa, Okla. -- Richard Lee scored bogey on the first hole of a 27-man playoff at the U.S. Amateur Championship on Wednesday morning and failed to advance to the stroke-play portion of the tournament.

Lee and the rest of the competitors fighting for four remaining spots in match play began the playoff on hole No. 14 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla. Lee missed the green off the tee of the 218-yard par-3 hole and failed to get up and down.

Lee, from Bellevue, Wash., was tied for 61st after two rounds of stroke play with 27 others, forcing today's playoff.

Lee and teammate Nick Taylor, who failed to make the cut, were the lone Huskies in the U.S. Amateur Championship. The 2010 U.S. Amateur is slated to be played at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash.
