Women's Soccer Travels to Face UC Riverside

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's soccer team returns to action this weekend as the Beavers face their first road test of the season when they travel to Riverside, Calif., to face UC Riverside on Friday, August 28, at 7:00 p.m.

Oregon State enters the contest with a record of 0-1-0 on the year after falling to Portland State, 1-0, last week to open the season. Despite the loss, Oregon State controlled possession and out-shot the Vikings, 19-6, including a 9-3 edge in shots on goal. Chelsea Buckland led the Oregon State attack with five shots on goal as Melinda Ingalls added two shots on goal for the Beavers.

UC Riverside enters with a record of 0-1-0 on the season after the Highlanders fell 1-0 to Cal State Bakersfield last week. Heidi Gassaway is the leading returning scorer for UC Riverside after scoring nine goals and adding three assists as a junior in 2008.

Oregon State leads the all-time series with UC Riverside, 1-0, after Oregon State captured a 2-0 win in Corvallis in 2007. Najma Homidi and Rachael Axon had goals in the victory over the Highlanders.

Following the match with UC Riverside, Oregon State will travel to Northridge, Calif., to take on Cal State Northridge on Sunday, August 30, at 1:00 p.m.
