Former Men's Rower Dan Scholz Advances at World Championships

POZNAN, Poland - Former Oregon State men's rower Dan Scholz advanced to the finals of the 2009 World Rowing Championships as he and his United States lightweight quad teammates finished third in the repechage on Wednesday to advance to the six-team, A final in the event.
Scholz, a 2006 graduate of Oregon State, and his squad placed third behind France and Denmark in the repechage with a time of 5:59.53. The time allowed the squad to advance to the finals, where they will face France, Germany, Italy, Denmark and Mexico on Sunday.
In addition to Scholz, recent Oregon State graduate John Wainwright (2008) is also participating at the championships. Wainwright and Alex Rothmeier finished fifth in the repechage of the lightweight's men pair and will race in the B final of the event on Saturday.
