EAST LANSING, Michigan - Junior outside hitter Kimmee Roleder (Pasadena/Pasadena HS) had 11 kills Saturday while hitting .526 (11-1-529) as the No. 12 USC Women of Troy swept the Albany Great Danes, 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-21), at the MSU Showcase.

USC (2-1) finished the day with its second sweep after an earlier 3-0 win over North Carolina.

Alex Jupiter also had 11 kills for the Trojans with three service aces while Geena Urango had eight kills, six digs and two aces. Junior middle blocker Zoe Garrett had five kills and no errors on 10 swings with four blocks in the win.

Teresa Coppiellie led the Great Danes with 11 kills and seven digs.

The Women of Troy hit .356 in the match against the Great Danes' .187 as USC recorded seven aces in the match.

USC opens the home portion of its 2009 schedule next weekend by hosting the Holiday Inn LA City Center Trojan Invitational featuring Florida Gulf Coast, Northern Arizona and Pepperdine. The Women of Troy will begin play on Thursday (Sept. 3) against Florida Gulf Coast at 7 p.m. with a live video webcast on

Notes: USC faced an Albany team that featured assistant coach Kimi Freeburg, who played at USC and was a member of the 2003 national championship squad...this weekend's tournament was a homecoming of sorts for USC head coach Mick Haley, who coached at Kellogg Community College about 60 miles away in Battle Creek...Haley coached seven seasons (1973-79) there and coached the women's team to two national titles and the men's team to four national titles...athletic trainer Sue Lerner, now in her 32nd season at USC, earned her master's degree at Michigan State and grew up in Traverse City, Mich.
