Long Beach, Calif. - The No. 7 UCLA women's soccer team picked up its first victory of the season on Sunday, as the Bruins registered a 4-0 victory over Long Beach State at George Allen Field. With the win, UCLA moves to 1-1-1 on the season. The 49ers fall to 1-1 overall.

The Bruins got on the board in the 22nd minute of action, as sophomore Sydney Leroux headed in a cross from Summer Williams to give UCLA an early 1-0 advantage. Leroux would strike again just 16 seconds into the second half, as she received a pass from senior Kristina Larsen, dribbled around Long Beach goalkeeper Emily Kingsborough, before scoring on an empty net from close range.

It marks Leroux's second multiple-goal match in three contests this year, as she also scored twice in the season opener against North Carolina. She has accounted for four of the Bruins' seven goals this season.

All-American Lauren Cheney then got in on the scoring action at the 68:29 mark, as she took advantage off the rebound from a saved shot by Zakiya Bywaters. It was Cheney's first goal of the season.

With the match already firmly in the Bruins' control, junior Liz Zadro scored her third career goal, as she one-timed a Lauren Wilmoth cross into the top of the net in the 89th minute.

Next up for the Bruins is a trip to Champaign, Ill. for the Illini Challenge Cup this Friday and Sunday. UCLA faces Illinois on Friday at 7:00 p.m. (CST), and Florida on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. (CST).
