Aaron Boone Makes Remarkable Return In The Major Leagues

Sept. 2, 2009

LOS ANGELES -- Former USC baseball player Aaron Boone made his remarkable return to the major leagues, less than six months after undergoing open-heart surgery in the offseason. Boone went 0-for-3 for the Astros as the first baseman, but the bigger story was his return to the major leagues for the one-time All-Star.

He batted .241 with six home runs and 28 RBI for the Washington Nationals before signing with the Astros in the offseason. Boone's need for surgery was discovered during spring training, but he was adamant about returning and has rehabbed aggressively.
