Cross Country Begins 2009 Campaign At BYU Autumn Classic

The UCLA men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Provo, Utah this weekend to compete at the BYU Autumn Classic on Saturday as the 2009 season begins. Behind new coaches Forest Braden and Johnny Gray, the Bruins will take an experienced squad with a few newcomers thrown in the mix to race before leaving for high altitude training.

Seven women will compete in the 5k race, whle eight men will race a 4-mile course. The meet features BYU, UCLA, Idaho State and San Bernardino Valley College.

Competing for the Bruin women are - freshman Heather Balbier; sophomores Katja Goldring, Sadee Martinez and Taryn Pastoor ; juniors Rosa Magana, Shannon Murakami and Kelcie Wiemann.

On the men's side competing are - seniors Marco Anzures, Alex Crabill, Jake Matthews, Marlon Patterson and Kevin Sullivan; juniors Scott Crawford and Spencer Knight and freshman Zach Torres.
