Sparks Fly... Football Game Delayed

Sept. 5, 2009

TUCSON--A lightning storm not far from Arizona Stadium caused officials to delay the start of the Central Michigan-Arizona football game.

No rain fell on patrons but game officials asked spectators about 20 minutes before kickoff to seek safety beneath the stadium.

Nearby lightning strikes around the scheduled kickoff time made the new extended wait no earlier than 7:45 p.m. (MST/PDT).
