Volleyball Ready To Rock at University of Montana Classic This Weekend

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State Sun Devil Women’s Volleyball Team (5-1 overall) take to the road again this weekend as they head to Missoula, MT to face-off in the University of Montana Classic featuring North Dakota, SMU and Montana. ASU will take on North Dakota and SMU on Friday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. before wrapping the weekend against Montana on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.

Recapping Last Weekend:
Against Charleson Southern: The Sun Devils came out of the gate swinging hitting .444 in the first set to win the set 25-11 before shifting the line-up a bit in the second set where they struggled through a tough 15-25 loss as their attack percentage dropped to 0.97. A State turned around to throw it down in the third
though with a .654 attack percentage, killing 18 en route to a 25-11 win for a 2-1 lead after three. A .314 average rounded out the match as ASU cruised in the fourth set with a 25-13 win to seal the deal. A State actually set a season high against Charleston Southern with 61 kills in the match.

Against UTEP:
While UTEP stepped in undefeated, it was A State that prevailed in the nightcap of Day One of the ASU Sheraton Classic. Cat Highmark came out to conduct the offense with 35 assists to lead Sofie Schlagintweit’s 16 kills and Sarah’s Reaves 11 as ASU ripped through the Miners with a 25-23, 25-14
and 25-10 sweep.

Against Idaho State:
With 10.5 total blocks in the match, A State’s D stifled the Bengals who hit only .135 in the match as ASU hit .319 with Marina Mercer in as setter, tossing for 29 assists, 16 to Sarah Reaves for kills as ASU went on to sweep through their last match of the weekend leaving Idaho State behind 25-16, 25-16 and 25-16. Another season high for the Sun Devils was set as well in the match with ASU serving up eight aces against the Bengals.
