Jackson Competes At 2009 Big W Golf Classic
Sept. 11, 2009
REDMOND, Wash. - Last Friday, Sept. 4, the Big W Club held its annual golf tournament at the Golf Club at Redmond Ridge. Members of the Big W Club, prospective donors, friends of the Athletic Department and members of the UW coaching staff, including women's basketball coach Tia Jackson played in the best-ball 'scramble' format.
Jackson teamed up with four hoops alumni: current UW Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Strategic Programs Shannon Kelly ('96), Sarah Duncan ('01), now a lawyer, Mariners Director of Corporate Business Ingrid Russell-Narcisse ('88) and Seattle Storm CEO Karen Bryant ('91). Jackson was also joined by Senior Associate Athletic Director Stephanie Rempe.
As a group, the 'Sixy Ladies' shot seven under par. According to Jackson, the Sixy Ladies showcased some impressive putting, but ultimately lost to a team that shot 24 under.
'Ingrid dominated the long ball,' said Jackson. 'And Shannon hit well too. I think we were probably first among the all-female groups, but they didn't break the scores out that way,' remarked Jackson. 'If they had, though, I think we would have won.'
The Huskies report to fall camp Monday, Sept. 14 and unofficial workouts begin Tuesday, Sept. 15. For ticket information, log on to GoHuskies.com or call the Husky ticket office at 206-543-2200.
