Sept. 16, 2009

SEATTLE - National Player of the Year Danielle Lawrie and the rest of her National Championship teammates will be honored Saturday before and during the UW-USC football game at Husky Stadium.

Prior to the game, the team will receive their National Championship rings in The Zone tailgate between Husky Stadium and Husky Softball Stadium. Many UW softball alumni will be present for the ceremony as they will be in town for a Husky Softball Alumni Weekend, celebrating the first National Championship in the 17-year history of the program. The presentation is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.

Lawrie will then get props for winning both the USA Softball National Player of the Year Award as well as the Honda Award for Softball when both awards are presented to her on the field between the first and second quarters of the game.

The entire team will also be honored at halftime in celebration of their win in the Women's College World Series. All 19 members of last year's team will be present.
