Men's Soccer Travels North to Take On Seattle University

Corvallis, Ore. - The Oregon State men's soccer team head north to take on the Seattle University Redhawks Saturday, Sept. 19 at 12:30 at Championship Field.

The Beavers are off to their best start in years putting up a 3-0-2 mark over the first two weeks of the season. It is the longest undefeated streak to start a season since the 1994 season when they started 7-0-1 under then head Coach Jimmy Conway.

The Beavers are ranked fifth in the far west region according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

Undefeated Oregon State's sits atop the Pacific-10 Conference being the only undefeated team left in the conference ahead of No. 7 (NSCAA) California and No. 12 (NSCAA) UCLA.

Through five games, Oregon State leads the Conference in goals (12) and points (31) and is ranked 15th nationally in scoring average. It also leads the league in shutouts with two.

Sophomores Danny Mwanga and Colin Mitchell lead the league in goals (4) and are second in points (8). Both are in the top-25 in the nation in goals per game (0.80).

Saturday's match marks the sixth time these two teams have met. Oregon State leads the series 5-0. The first game was Sept. 13, 1989 where the Beavers walked away with a 2-1 victory. The last meeting was a 2-0 road victory Sept. 3, 1994.

Following the trip to Seattle University, the Beavers will be back at home to host the Henser/Zaher Memorial Classic Sept. 25-27.
