STANFORD, Calif. - Returning from the Santa Clara Tournament with two big wins over Purdue and Notre Dame, we were more than happy to recuperate our bodies and relax on our Monday day off. For the freshmen on the team, including myself, Monday was the last night we would have our dorm rooms entirely to ourselves because the rest of the freshman class (Class of 2013!) would be arriving and moving in the next day, Tuesday, for New Student Orientation. Athletes would no longer be the only ones on campus.

All rested up, we went into Tuesday's morning practice ready to work hard in order to prepare for the upcoming weekend where we would be hosting the Stanford Tournament. After scrimmaging and a little fitness, Lesley, our strength and conditioning trainer, was nowhere to be found, but instead her entourage was present and prepared to kick our butts into shape with the weight circuit, just as Lesley would have done herself. And right when the circuits and abs were finished, all freshmen were eager to return to their dorm rooms to find out who they would be stuck sharing a room with for the entire school year to come and of course, to spread the word about our home games to come against Colorado and Wisconsin.

Walking out onto the field for Friday night's match against the Colorado Buffaloes, it was amazing to be welcomed by the overflowing crowd of Cardinal red in the bleachers, especially in the student section (mainly consisting of the new faces of the class of 2013). Having that support definitely inspired and pushed the team to be more confident and to show the fans the type of Stanford soccer that we know we are capable of playing. And with a 4-0 victory over Colorado, we definitely showed what playing Stanford-style soccer is able to accomplish.

The game against the Wisconsin Badgers on Sunday afternoon was an emotionally tough game for the team as a whole in which we al came together more than we have ever before to support one another. The 6-0 victory was definitely a TEAM victory in which not one person stopped giving a hundred percent the entire game. A victory made with the Quon family in our minds and hearts, symbolized by the black wristbands we wore as a team. So, with school starting the next day, it was nice to end the weekend with a tournament win at home.
