Mays, Williams Named Pac-10 Players Of The Week

Oct. 5, 2009

USC safety Taylor Mays was named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week and wide receiver Damian Williams was the Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Week, based on their play in the Trojans' 30-3 win at California last Saturday (Oct. 3).

Mays also was named the Lott Trophy IMPACT Player of the Week for his performance. In recognition of his accomplishment, a $1,000 check will be awarded to USC's general scholarship fund by the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation, sponsor of the Lott Trophy.

Mays led USC with 10 tackles at California and intercepted a pass in the end zone on the Bears' opening drive.

Williams returned a punt 66 yards for a score at California and also caught 8 passes for 101 yards (both game highs).
