Stanford's O'Hara Named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.- Commissioner Larry Scott announced today that Stanford’s senior forward Kelley O’Hara has been named Pac-10 Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 29-Oct. 5.
O’Hara, Stanford’s captain and leading goal scorer, netted two goals and added an assist to help lead the Cardinal to victory over No. 11 Santa Clara on Thursday. O’Hara’s first goal in the 25th minute notched the score at 1-1. She then added a second goal in the 54th minute to put the score at 4-1, Stanford. O’Hara topped her great performance with with an assist to to teammate Christen Press.
O’Hara leads the team with 12 goals and six assists on the year, and it is in part because of O’Hara’s stellar play that Stanford is matching their best start in school history, standing at 11-0 as they enter Pac-10 play beginning next weekend. O’Hara, who hails from Fayetteville, Ga., is sixth in the country in goals per game (1.09 gpg) and ranks tied for second in points per game with her teammate Press (2.73 ppg). For her success on and off the field, O’Hara has been named a finalist for the women’s soccer Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award.
This week’s award marks the third-career Player of the Week selection for O’Hara and the 25th selection for a Stanford player, tying UCLA with the most selections all-time.
