Silverstein Joins Men's Golf Staff

Oct. 13, 2009

TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona head men's golf coach Rick LaRose today announced the hiring of Justin Silverstein as a volunteer assistant coach.

Silverstein, an Arizona letterman from 2005-09, returns to his alma mater to begin his coaching career. After graduating in May 2009 with a degree in regional development and a minor in business, he was employed by the I.R.I. Golf Group.

'The opportunity to return to the University of Arizona was one I couldn't pass up,' said Silverstein. 'The ability to learn from Coach LaRose and Coach Barnes certainly made the decision to coach an easy one. I can't think of a better place to begin my coaching career.'

A native of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., Silverstein earned four letters for the Cats, while posting a 74.83 career scoring average. His low round as a collegian was a 69, though he was limited to just two career appearances due to a wrist injury.

An accomplished prep golfer, Silverstein helped Torrey Pines High School to a pair of state titles and was a four-time all-conference selection. He also participated in the 2003 United States Amateur Championship in Oakmont, Pa.

'He is an extremely dedicated young man,' said LaRose. 'We are pleased to add him to our coaching staff.'
