M Tennis Heads to ITA West Regional

TUCSON - The Arizona men's tennis team heads to Malibu, Calif. to compete in the ITA West Regional Championships hosted by the University of Southern California and
Pepperdine University.  Play begins Thursday and runs through Sunday.


Six out of the 11 Wildcats will participate in the tournament, Andres Arango, Andres Carrasco, Geoff Embry, Ravid Hazi, Pat Metham and Jason Zafiros.  There are 88 total players in the event.


Senior Andres Arango and senior Ravid Hazi both have first round byes and will play their first match on Friday. 


Arango will play the winner of Rob Foy of Cal Poly and Jason McNaughton of USC on Friday at 12 p.m.


Hazi will play Andreas Weber of Hawaii on Friday at 10:30 a.m.


Andres Arango/Ravid Hazi have a first round bye and will play Aris Andresian/Johan Berhof of LMU on Friday at 9:00 a.m.


Singles Matches for Thursday, October 15, 2009:


Junior Andres Carrasco plays Sam Gould of UCI at 10:30 a.m.


Junior Geoff Embry plays Zeke Hindle of LMU at 12 p.m.


Senior Pat Metham plays Ivan Lopez of LMU at 12 p.m.


Sophomore Jason Zafiros plays Charl Wolmarans of USD at 10:30 a.m.

Geoff Embry/Pat Metham play Jordan Bridge/Andre Dome of Cal Poly at 9:00 a.m.


Andres Carrasco/Jason Zafiros play Nikola Bubnic/Charl Wolmarans of USD at 9:00 a.m.
