Song Vies For Lead At Stanford

Sophomore Jennifer Song continued to vie for the individual lead after 36 holes of the 2009 Stanford Intercollegiate while the top-ranked USC women's golf team moved into sixth on Saturday (Oct. 17) at the Stanford (Calif.) G.C.

Arizona State remained in first at 13-under 555 with UCLA second at 6-under 562. Texas is third (564) and is followed by Vanderbilt (573), Washington (579) and USC (584).

Song, after a 67 Friday, came back with a par-71, remaining at 4-under for the event at 138, one shot off the lead. She finished first in her first tournament this season at the Mason Rudolph Championship.

Senior Belen Mozo, playing in her first event of the season after off-season shoulder surgery, posted a team-best 1-under 70 to move into a tie for 27th at 3-over 145 (75-70).

Freshman Cyna Rodriguez is tied for 51st at 9-over 151 (74-77), sophomore Inah Park dropped to a tie for 63rd at 11-over 153 (73-80) and senior Caroline Kim is tied for 68th at 14-over 156 (79-77).

Action concludes Sunday.
