TEMPE, Ariz.-- If there was one bright spot from Washington's heartbreaking 24-17 loss to Arizona State on Saturday, it was the continuing emergence of wide receiver Devin Aguilar as one of quarterback Jake Locker's primary targets.

Aguilar set a career high in catches and receiving yards, hauling in seven passes for 154 yards and a touchdown, which came in the first quarter when he found himself wide open for a 49-yard score.

'I can contribute that all the time,' Aguilar said. 'It's just a matter of time and being patient and playing and contributing to the offense.'

Said Locker: 'He played great today. He's a great player, great receiver and he made some big-time catches.'

The sophomore also hauled in a spectacular one-handed catch on a pass that was thrown about a yard behind him.

'That was unexpected,' Aguilar said. 'I didn't know I was going to do that. But it was a nice catch.'

And this isn't the beginning for Aguilar. He caught the first two touchdowns of his college career in UW's 36-33 win over Arizona last week, two weeks after he sat out against Stanford with an injury.

'I know I'm a go-to guy, and a player that can help the offense and encourage them to do more as the season goes on and in each game,' Aguilar said.

Aguilar has emerged from a crop of UW receivers that always seems to see someone new come up with an impressive performance. But he's been one of the more consistent contributors of late, and is third on the team in receiving with 17 catches for 304 yards. His three touchdown catches lead the team, as well.

'Devin's a nice player,' head coach Steve Sarkisian said. 'It's good to have him back. He plays hard, he's got a good feel for the game and I think Jake has a nice feel with Devin, as well.'

Aguilar was second on the team last season with 20 catches for 246 yards as a true freshman, seeing action in all 12 games and starting three of them.
