Oregon State's Peck Named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Oct. 20, 2009
WALNUT CREEK, Calif.- Commissioner Larry Scott announced today that OREGON STATE midfielder Melissa Peck has been named Pac-10 Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 13-19.
In the annual Civil War match against in-state rival Oregon, Peck, a senior from Boise, Idaho assisted on two goals to help the Beavers earn a 2-0 win, marking the first time since 2005 that the Beavers have beaten the Ducks.
The game remained close and scoreless until the 84th minute, when Peck created the game-winning goal with a cross to teammate Chelsea Buckland. Peck solidified the win for the Beavers, assisting on a second goal to forward Ashley Seal just 40 seconds later.
The two-assist game marked the second multi-assist game of her career and her first two assists of the season. Peck has also scored three goals on the year, good enough for second on the team.
This is Peck’s first Player of the Week selection and Oregon State’s seventh selection all-time.
