Volleyball Falls to No. 18 Women of Troy

Los Angeles, Calif. – The Oregon State volleyball team showed sparks but fell to No. 18 USC on Friday evening in the Galen Center.


Set scores were 17-25, 15-25, 22-25.


“We didn’t serve aggressively, and our skills and actions weren’t aggressive,” head coach Taras Liskevych said. “We never got USC out of their system. The only hitters who were here to play were Rachel and Lexie. We need to play better tomorrow.”


Senior Lexie Rathgeber (White Rock, British Columbia) hit .333 with seven kills with a pair of blocks. Senior Rachel Rourke (Queensland, Australia) posted a team-high 11 kills, hitting .300.


The Women of Troy were led by Alex Jupiter with a match-high 19 kills, while libero Alli Hillgren had a matching 19 digs.


The Beavers are now 11-9, 2-6 Pac-10, while USC improves to 14-6, 3-5 Pac-10.


The Beavers wrap up their time in Los Angeles against No. 13 UCLA on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.


Oregon State Notes – Senior Rachel Rourke has 1,726 career kills, 37 away from the school record.
