Oct. 24, 2009

Corvallis, Ore. - The Oregon State women's swim team lost to both UCLA, 182-77, and to UCSB, 182-80, in a triple-dual meet Saturday in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Oregon State freshman Rachel O'Brien recorded the second fastest time of the day in the 200y butterfly with a 2:02.31 which is less than a second from her best time of the year (2:01.84) which she swam yesterday (Oct. 23) at USC.

Another bright spot on the day for the Beavers was the 200y medley relay, swam by Jenni Dole, Ellie Bradley, O'Brien, and Ashley Kerekanich, who came in second with a time of 1:46.64.

Sophomore Anna Heller swam a 57.87 in the 100y backstroke and finished in fourth place which was only 0.58 seconds off the winning time. She also finished third in the 200y backstroke (2:03.74).

The Beavers return home next weekend to participate in their annual Alumni Relays set for 9am in the Stevens Natatorium as part of the homecoming weekend festivities. The relays will host all of the All-American swimmers from the Oregon State swim program.
