Women's Tennis Sends Doubles Team to Semi-Finals

The Arizona State women's tennis continued their play at the Wilson/ITA Regional Championship in San Diego, Calif. After three rounds, one doubles team and one singles player remain alive in the championship.

The doubles team of Micaela Hein and Ashlee Brown held off the No. 2 seeded team of Valeria Pulido and Sanchez as they topped the Trojan pair 8-6. They will advance to the semi-finals tomorrow.

In singles, Hein put up a tough fight in singles but fell 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 to Natasha Marks of Arizona. Also in the main draw, Kelcy McKenna was upset by UCLA's Andrea Remynse 6-1, 6-0.

Sianna Simmons maintained success in the consolation bracket as she downed Arizona's Jane Huh 6-3, 6-1. Brown picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win in her first match of the day against Sierra Ellison of San Diego State but was eliminated by UC-Irvine's Brooke Bartlett.

The Wilson/ITA Regional continues through Monday.
